REVIEW : 1REBEL | ST MARY AXE

The cities playground, 1Rebel.

Located minutes from Liverpool St, after reading rave review while living in France; I was eager to get down there after moving back to London.

I attend their RIDE and Upper Body class.

RIDE takes place in the spin studio (surprise, surprise) and is 45 mins long. I attended Pierre's class, the lights went down and the class started. The music was a mix of classic cheesy pop, chart tunes and latino banger. If you know me, I'm a sucker for a latino tune - especially during Spin! Makes you wanna whine my waist and pick up the speed!

I love spin and I've been to a fair few spin studio's in London, but hands down 1Rebel has the best spinning bikes! You can feel the resistance straight away, the handlebars do not get loose and the seat doesn't feel like a school assembly bench!! Massive thumbs up from me, nothing worst than having to readjust during a sprint.

The class also incorporates some upper body work, so we pumped some dumbbells; which felt amazing to be killing 2 birds with one stone! I'd recommend RIDE to all levels of fitness, don't be afraid!

I then attended Ida May's Upper Body class. Again a 45 mins burn, the class consisted of a mix of cardio drills on the treadmill and floor work using resistance bands and dumbbells to build that upper!

This was the first treadmill class I've done since my accident, so I was very nervous after only really running 3/4km on a treadmill alone. I slurped down some pre-workout and pulled myself together! Honestly, it reminded me why I loved running so much. The upper workout drills were super challenging, but when you're in the moment and high on adrenaline you just smash them out!

I don't wanna get all business studies on you, but the culture of 1Rebel is what I really admire! I love the wall's with everyone's goals. It feels very much like a close knit community, not just a drop in spot. Which is a difficult thing to achieve in a non-membership gym! But from the moment you walk into 1Rebel, the lovely front of house team welcome you, a sense of belonging comes over you!

I can't not talk about the famous changing facilities. Yes, they do live up to the hype. I'm a massive interior buff and I'm obsessed with aesthetics. The chilled towels, the chrome lockers, and stage worthy vanity areas; all I can say is "yaaaaaaaaaasss". Also, cleanser and toner dispensers; my skin was beyond thankful! IMG_1436
