Review: 7 eme Vin, Paris
My favourite thing to do when I travel, is find some seriously traditional food - away from the sights. As you know, I hopped off to Paris last week for a few nights; after finding a great deal on Expedia. I traveled alone, and knew that meant foodie time!
Choosing which restaurant you eat at is when people fall out most on holiday! I'm not that indecisive, but I am considerate; so I'll be that person who says.
"I fancy pizza but if you want thai I'm happy to have thai"
And I know it annoys people off, but I don't want to be the dinner time dictator!
Anyway, I holiday'd alone. So, I called all the shots.
My hotel was in the 7th arrondissement - quite an affluent area, in the shadows of the Eiffel Tower. I avoided restaurants close to the Tower, I'm never keen on restaurant targeted at tourist, but my hotel was in quite a residential area of the arrondissement so I found some gems!
My favourite was the charming 7 eme Vin (they don't have a website but all details will be at the end of post) - a chic, gourmet, traditional french restaurant with an amazing menu (and wine list) and not sky high prices!
I had their steak with a blue cheese sauce, veggies and dauphine potatoes - oh my god. I have never tasted a sauce so incredible, the strong blue cheese was not lost in the cream; which I usually feel it is! And, my steak was cooked to perfection
Of course, I followed it with a dessert (hey, my fuelband said I'd burnt 1000cals at Versailles - ha! I don't care for cals)
It was a tart with the fruit of the season - pears (yum) with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If I was with someone else, I 100% would share it, their dessert portions are much larger than what I'm used to! However, I stepped up to the plate and ate it all.
With my food baby in tow, I headed back to the hotel and had a soak in the tub and watched Friends with Benefits!
