End of an Era: Finishing University and Moving On
The next chapter.
Can you believe it?! I’ve finished University.
The craziest 3 years of my life, but also the secure bubble of University - popped. I guess I’m adulting now. Adulting is my new favourite word. Genuine question, do real adults wake up and not feel like adulting sometimes? Because dude seriously, some days I’m like can I not adult today?!
Anyway, I diverge... so, University is over. I’m going to film my University story for YouTube when I’ve had that precious cap and gown picture #graduation2016. But for now, let’s look forward rather than reflecting. If you read my blog and watch my vlogs, you’ll probably already know that I studied History and Politics at University - which allowed me to take a year abroad in France. Although I didn’t have the best time studying abroad, I am still passionate about travel and living abroad.
As you'll of read in 2 Years Blogging Lessons post or seen on my vlogs, I'm moving to New York City! Truth is, I don't know how long I'll be out there, but I’ve been offered a really cool opportunity, far too cool to pass by. So, I’ll be moving over to NYC at the end July to work in the role closest to my dream job; it’s pretty crazy. I've come to the conclusion, any experience is good experience. And as a fresh graduate, there's nothing I need more than experience and to be surrounded by others grinding. I know this time in New York will not only develop me professionally, but it will be amazing for me personally! I literally know no one - no one in New York, I'm not moving over to reconnect with friendship groups. I'm going to start over, I'll have to force my awkward ass out of my room to go and meet people; and make friends. Honestly, that's the scariest thing about moving for me! As a 21 year old woman, people have concrete friendship groups already! Cue my entry from left of stage, like come on - I'm going to have to out my big girl panties on and maybe a little dutch courage. It's going to be a challenge I'm sure, but I'm ready for it; and will be sharing it all on my vlogs!
I visited New York in November (more about that trip) and I was instantly captured by the energy. I can't wait to be immersed in it. I still think pinch me, I cannot believe I'm moving over!
So, what's next for the blog?
I have zero plans of changing anything blog-wise. I'm hoping that moving will inspire me to continue to create some really inspiring blog content! I want to fill these pages with tons of street style pictures, far too many cups of coffee and avo on toast (go ahead, call me basic). But that's what I love, and I want to share some pretty things here.
YouTube has become a massive part of my life, I know that sounds pretty cheesy but I film my life every day! I vlog my days, and upload a weekly video showing a little catch up of what I've been up to. The past 3 months of consistently weekly vlogging has meant so much to me; my life has changed so much since January and being able to watch that footage back is amazing!
Yesterday I launched my new project, a podcast called Coffee With Dani! The show is released weekly via iTunes, I sit down with a dope CEO/Life Boss and discuss how they got to where they are today. The aim of the show is to educate, inspire, enable and entertain. I overshare with one of my friends every week, talking all things sex, dating, politics and lifestyle - so, I decided to record it and make it a feature of the show; I bloody love it. I've studies my demographic, and it's clear that my YouTube audience is a little younger than those I'm targeting with the podcast, so yes we do discuss some adult topics. But I think by talking about "adult" topics, young people are prepared for what's to come! We should be talking about taking your life into your own hands, and starting your dream business and not letting fear get in our way! Same for love & relationships, if Hollywood love is all we see - how can we know what real love is like. Sounds crazy but because of the media, we need to normalise life again!
Thank you for the continued support throughout my University years, and here's to the rest!
